Transition to Net Zero

We are moving steadily towards clean energy sources powered by sun, wind, and the natural environment. At the same time, we are looking to utilise and integrate reliable and proven low-carbon technologies to help reduce UK carbon footprint. Domestic gas is a critical component of the UK’s transition, providing near-term energy security, displacing imported higher-emission LNG. Certain fields in the East Irish Sea have unique geological characteristics making them suitable for natural gas and hydrogen energy storage.

Demand for long duration energy storage will increase as the UK increases its renewable wind generating capacity.  The region also contains reservoirs suitable for CCS development.
